Changing behaviour patterns - but how?

What do behaviour patterns have to do with suppressed emotions?

To do this, we need to know that unconscious behaviour is an avoidance strategy. We have unconsciously developed strategies to suppress emotions so that we do not have to feel them. This looks different for everyone. Everyone develops their own perfect strategies to avoid feeling emotions.

Some people develop addictions of all kinds, e.g. alcohol, smoking, food, internet, Facebook, Netflix, other people behave aggressively, controlling or withdraw in certain situations. Everyone develops their own strategies to avoid feeling.

Have you ever asked yourself why you always react the same way in certain situations?

Sometimes we ask ourselves afterwards why we reacted that way. Sometimes we feel uncomfortable, we don't want to behave that way, but we can't stop it for reasons we don't understand. We would like to change these behaviour patterns, but for some reason we cannot.

Do you sometimes feel like you're on autopilot?

It feels like we can't respond any other way. Here is the invitation to you:

Sit down in a quiet minute, close your eyes and let the situation in which you were once again on autopilot run backwards in your mind's eye like a film, all the way to the beginning of the situation. Then go with your consciousness for a second before your autopilot has taken over. Let that moment become wide, expand it and ask yourself, if there was an emotion here, what emotion was it?

Change behaviour patterns profoundly

These behavioural patterns can be based on emotions we don't want to feel and negative beliefs we have developed because of them. This can be explored in JOURNEY® process work so that we can respond in a healthier way.

By working through the negative old beliefs, our attitude towards the deep emotions changes, we can acknowledge and feel them again. We lose the fear of feeling these deep emotions and no longer suppress the emotion. This can change our behaviour patterns because they are no longer needed as an avoidance strategy to suppress emotions.

We can consciously decide how we want to behave and are no longer on autopilot.
